A view from the Alta Dam

Constructions of the dam and power plant on the Alta river were completed in 1987. Before this action river was utilized for salmon fishing and reindeer herding by Sami people. During the constraction demonstrations and protests by Sami got supporters from different countries. The Alta Dam controversy brough attention to the questions of indigenous environmental rights. Nowdays, it a lesson to learn from previous generations and a story to tell to our children.
